1. Cream shortening and sugars in mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
2. Beat in egg.
3. Add salt, soda, flour and water; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.
4. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
5. Bake at 350° for 11 minutes, or until lightly browned.
6. Cool on cookie sheet.
